Today is a day that I hold as one of the most important days for my life. It’s Dave and Jeanie Rhoades’ anniversary. Why you ask would someone else’s anniversary be one of MY most important days? Dave and Jeanie are my parents. I am a blessed daughter of a couple that has been together for 26 years. I have seen them in their worst moments and their best moments loving each other, I have seen them in their wealthier moments and their poorest moments slow dancing in the living room, and I have seen them in their healthy times and through their sicknesses always holding hands.
I was there the day they became husband and wife. I had the privalege of being their flower girl. I am grateful on so many levels for that day. That was the day my mom chose the right man for her to love and cherish all the days of her life and that was the day that my dad chose the ONE woman to continually pursue and love all of his life. Their obediance to God alone is such a beautiful thing. That day was also the day that Dave Rhoades chose me. He chose to be my dad and to take care of me all the days of my life. (Dad, thank you. Without you I wouldn’t have an earthly daddy to show me the ways of the FATHER.)
Mom and Dad, I celebrate your marriage today. Your marriage has made my marriage possible. You have taught me so much about how to love one another and I can honestly shout it to the world that I have a Godly, awesome, wild, sweet, and passionate marriage. May this be an encouragement for the 1000’s of days left with ups and downs that because you chose each other and have chosen each other for 26 years you make yourselves examples to your children and you give God the glory! God gets the glory for a marriage that stays together! HE IS PLEASED! AMEN!!!
